What HVAC marketing actually has to solve
Seasonality is the whole problem
Most local businesses earn revenue in a reasonably flat line across the year. HVAC does not. Demand arrives in two concentrated spikes, and inside those spikes it arrives in days rather than weeks. That compresses the value of your search position into a handful of high-pressure periods where every competitor in the county is bidding, answering, and dispatching at once.
Repair, install, and maintenance are three different businesses
A homeowner searching "AC not cooling" and a homeowner searching "new furnace cost" are not the same customer. One wants a truck today and will pick whoever answers. The other is beginning a considered purchase worth several thousand dollars and will read, compare, and ask two or three questions before booking an estimate.
What the site has to survive in July
Spike traffic is a performance test. The visitor is on a phone, on mobile data, in a house that is uncomfortably hot, and they are not patient. Anything competing for the first two seconds, a video header, a chat widget that blocks the layout, an unoptimized hero image, costs calls at exactly the moment calls are worth most.
Getting named when the question goes to an AI assistant
A growing share of "who should I hire" questions never reach a results page. They are asked of ChatGPT, Perplexity, or answered inside an AI Overview, and the answer names two or three businesses. Whether you are one of them depends on whether the engines can identify your business confidently: consistent entity data everywhere you are described, schema that states plainly what you do and where you do it, and content written in blocks that can be lifted and attributed.
Owning the map pack, town by town
There are three map pack positions in every service area you cover, and they are held by someone right now. Taking them is a matter of profile completeness, category accuracy, citation consistency, review velocity, and having a real page for each town you serve rather than a list of city names in a footer.
Maintenance plans deserve their own conversion path
Maintenance agreements are the most valuable thing an HVAC site can sell, because they smooth the seasonality problem the rest of the business fights. They also convert nothing like a repair call. Nobody signs a plan in a panic; they sign it when the value is laid out plainly next to the cost of the emergency it prevents.
How the first ninety days usually run
Paid Discovery comes first: a crawl, a keyword and competitor map, a location matrix, and a decision about which pages should exist. That document is the build brief, and you keep it whether or not the build happens here.
